Vancouver City Council had a good idea: to provide motorcycle/scooter parking spaces at the end of a row of curbside parking spaces. 2-wheelers loved them!

Then the Vancouver Vision council types decided that 2-wheelers are just another type of motor-vehicle and had to pay for parking, just like cars. So they ordered the installation of single parking meters for each group of motorbikes. How does this work?

No surprise: these green-topped parking meters (one meter for 5 motorbikes) don

Now the motorbike meter spaces are empty and losing money. Passing cars see the empty bike spaces and move in.

The motorbikes & scooters go back to the old way of parking - in between cars and behind dumpsters. This annoys the car drivers who sometimes bump into the bikes and knock them over.
